At the moment, I want to build a motorized Bobbytractor. Bobbytractor? You might think: “What is this guy talking about?” OK, I will explain it. I think nearly everybody knows, what a Bobbycar is. This little red cars, on which 2 – 3 olds are driving though the house and crash against the furniture. Sometime someone or several people must have the idea to put a motor into a car like that. Maybe due to the fact that their kids were grown. I don’t have kids, but I want to build something like that.
Anyway I don’t use a red little car, but a vessel, which looks like a tractor from Renault. So it’s not da Bobbycar, but a Bobbytractor. Easy, isn’t it?
The hole thing is just at the beginning and I’m somewhere between the conception and the construction. I will use many parts from pocketbikes, for example the engine, gas tank and chain wheel with chain. I’m doing this for 2 reasons:
1. First of all I wanted to use an engine from a chain saw, which were laying around here. But after a short time I was seiously thinking about, how to get the engine power from the crankshaft an the wheels. The main problem was, to put the centrifugal clutch and the driving chain together. Sadly I have no chance to make several components on a turning or milling maschine. So I decided to look at the auction house with the 4 colored letters and suddenly I had the idea to use pocket bike parts.
2. Pocket bike parts are comparative cheap. I got the the engine for less than 40€, the muffler for 15€, the “tractor” for a little bit more than 10€ and chain wheel, chain and gas tank for less than 10€.
I will weld the frame with square pipes and at the moment I have a rough plan of the design in my mind and I have to look, how I can realize that. But I will not make a professional conception with requirements list and CAD drafts. Most of the decisions I will make during the fabrication, because several thinks can change and it will took to much time to consider all these thinks at the beginning.
Finally it’s just for me and not for a company, or somethink like that.
