In fact that the interior of the crate is professionally disposed, I decided to cut the offal out of the crate. So I took my jig saw and cutted the big parts out of the bottom. I couldn’t cut out the hole bottom in one time, because it was seperated in a 4 areas. So I cutted out the 4 pieces first.
After that I used a single saw blade to cut out the rest.
At the end I put the frame, the crate, the both pedestal bearing with the rear driveshaft and the chain whell together, just to see how it looks like. Of course I will cut the driveshaft and the back of the frame. I let the frame a little bit longer, because I didn’t know the exact measures of the needed length.
Here are some pics from today:
Or to say it in an other way: The project with the Bobbytractor is put on ice. I’m building a driving beer crate now.
I had the idea of that Bobbytractor, because I wanted to build a motorized vehicle. The main thing was to build something with an engine and not that it has to be something like that Bobbytractor. That was just the first thing, which came on my mind.
A few days ago I came upon a website, where somebody has build something like that and I thought: “You want this, too!”. So i began to plan, but I saw very quickly, that I can’t build many parts in that way, I rather wanted to, just because I don’t have the maschines too do it. You already know, want you have, when you have lost it.
But I didn’t want to give up and so I seached on the internet, how I can build it with my moderate appliances and I found something.
And the solution is so easy. My biggest problem was to realize a good steering. A steering, where the wheels runs parallel and so on.
The idea is just to use one front wheel instead of two. Like a trike.
The plans for this trike are just in my mind at the moment and I will bring them an paper in the next few days, but I already began to weld the frame and I’m well happy with the result.
I’m not a Catholic, not very religious and not a great fan of classical music, but this performance of Ave Maria sung by Kelly Clarkson at the 19-Apr-2008 on the Youth Rally during the visit of Pope Benedict XVI. was just awesome, incredible and amazing. Just look and marvel.
Yes, it has snowed. In March. There ware no snow during all the winter time and just when I got the summer tires on my car, is it snowing. Great timing
But thank God, the sun came out and so most of the snow are melted already.
Here’s a short video, which shows how the garden looks like in the morning.
At the moment, I want to build a motorized Bobbytractor. Bobbytractor? You might think: “What is this guy talking about?” OK, I will explain it. I think nearly everybody knows, what a Bobbycar is. This little red cars, on which 2 – 3 olds are driving though the house and crash against the furniture. Sometime someone or several people must have the idea to put a motor into a car like that. Maybe due to the fact that their kids were grown. I don’t have kids, but I want to build something like that.
Anyway I don’t use a red little car, but a vessel, which looks like a tractor from Renault. So it’s not da Bobbycar, but a Bobbytractor. Easy, isn’t it?
The hole thing is just at the beginning and I’m somewhere between the conception and the construction. I will use many parts from pocketbikes, for example the engine, gas tank and chain wheel with chain. I’m doing this for 2 reasons:
1. First of all I wanted to use an engine from a chain saw, which were laying around here. But after a short time I was seiously thinking about, how to get the engine power from the crankshaft an the wheels. The main problem was, to put the centrifugal clutch and the driving chain together. Sadly I have no chance to make several components on a turning or milling maschine. So I decided to look at the auction house with the 4 colored letters and suddenly I had the idea to use pocket bike parts.
2. Pocket bike parts are comparative cheap. I got the the engine for less than 40€, the muffler for 15€, the “tractor” for a little bit more than 10€ and chain wheel, chain and gas tank for less than 10€.
I will weld the frame with square pipes and at the moment I have a rough plan of the design in my mind and I have to look, how I can realize that. But I will not make a professional conception with requirements list and CAD drafts. Most of the decisions I will make during the fabrication, because several thinks can change and it will took to much time to consider all these thinks at the beginning.
Finally it’s just for me and not for a company, or somethink like that.
